The YIE: Feedback thus far

One particular blog-follower, DTB, has personally asked that the audience have some input into WHAT tattoo I actually get (you guys pick what to put on my body).

I'm firm on getting the scripted quote. That won't change. BUT... I do see this project as having a Phase I and a Phase II.

Phase I: the initial script across my back. I see that as a foundation or building block.
Phase II: any subsequent designs to enhance that script at a later date.

So to DTB: definitely I would love your input on Phase II. Let's see how Phase I turns out, and we can go from there. I totally appreciate your interest though. What exactly did you have in mind?

The YIE: Scoping out Places

Hey folks... sorry no YIB news yesterday. I actually had to do some "work" .

First off, huge props to my boy Jules across the Big Pond. My first investor. He' s the best and we go way back to some seriously screwed up shared-Corporate America experiences (which drove us both over the edge). Thx for the ink encouragement, Jules!

I am planning on scoping out a few tattoo parlors today. First off will be JinxProof down in Georgetown (http://jinxprooftattoos). Great place, well-reputed. They actually did my nipple ring some time ago and made an extremely painful experience very plesant for me with their bedside manner. I'm kinda skeptical about pricing since I'm sure it will be a lil' more expensive due to the G-town location, but who knows. These guys have been written up in Tattoo Magazine. Other friends have had good experiences there as well, but I think those were for piercings.

Afterwards, I'll be checking out the two local ones in FFX. There is one that I always pass by on the way to the gym (gotta get those shoulders huge...): Marlowe's Inks in the quaint City of Fairfax: (http://annamarlowe.com/index.htm). The site is still kinda under construction, the art gallery is standard, but I still would like to see what its all about.

The last one I will check out is Patriots Tattoo (the one from my "weird omen" posting the other day): http://www.patriotstattoo.com. Since I ment them under omen-like circumstances, they are a definite "must-visit".

When I go today, I'll bring my camera with me, take some shots, and let you know how things go.

The YodaBeesh Ink Experience: Robbie Williams

So, you know how I want to have the saying across the back of my shoulders? I was inspired in part by Robbie Williams. He is SO HOT. Anyhow check out this pic:

Note the tattoo across the top of his chest. It says "Chacun a son gout", which translated from French roughly means "To each his own..."

Kudos to you, Robster!

Daily News of the Weird

I wish more gay art film stars had as much motivation...

President's Dinner An X-Rated Affair To Remember? (AP 06092005)
WASHINGTON -- The annual President's Dinner, a Republican Party fundraising event featuring President George W. Bush, could get an extra dash of spice this year. That's because porn actress and former California gubernatorial candidate Mary Carey is planning to attend.

Obviously, not quite Mariah Carey (btw, love her come back...). Hey Falcon... Are you READING THIS?!

COMING FROM FLORIDA: Judge Orders Florida City To Fly Gay Pride Flags (AP 06082005)
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- For the next six days, 49 rainbow flags will flutter on the Bridge of Lions after a three-year battle by gay rights organizations. U.S. District Judge Henry Lee Adams Jr. ruled Tuesday against the city in a suit filed by the Rev. Ruth Jensen and Vicki Waldon of the St. Augustine Pride Committee, Equality Florida and the National Center for Lesbian Rights. The city rejected a request last month to fly the flags for a week of gay-pride events.

Now, serrusly... coming from probably the most fcuked up state of the union, it can't be that surprising. I wish they'd have more gay pride flags in Fairfax City... baby steps...!

Was this boy NOT just at the Michael Jackson Trial???

Macaulay Culkin Pleads Guilty To Drug Possession (AP 06082005)

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Actor Macaulay Culkin pleaded guilty Wednesday in Oklahoma City to two counts of drug possession in connection with a September arrest. The actor was arrested Sept. 17 after Oklahoma City police pulled over a car on Interstate 44 in which he was a passenger. During a search, officers found marijuana and Xanax pills in bags that were found in the vehicle.

Hmmm... I can think of better combinations than pot and Xanax. I mean serrusly... after that combo, all you'd need to make the scene complete would be The Carpenters' Greatest Hits Collection, The Best of Morrissey, the Smiths, and Depeche Mode playing in the background, a tub of warm water, and a razor blade.

OH, and WTF was the kid doing in OKC?! I guess you'd need as much self-entertainment options as possible there (been there done that).

Man's Leg Falls Out Of Plane And Lands In Backyard (AP 06082005)

NEW YORK -- The body of an apparent stowaway was ripped in half during flight Tuesday and his leg crashed into a suburban neighborhood, where a homeowner found the severed limb in the middle of her lawn, authorities said.

The YodaBeesh Ink Experience: Choosing the Right Font

I'm trying to think of a good sexy gothic font to use for the tattoo. You can download a PDF with samples of all the fonts I'm looking at. Try right clicking on the below link and then do "Save Target As"

http://members.cox.net/yodabeesh/tattoo.pdf

Oh, btw, you might need the latest Adobe Reader (Version 7.0) for this which you can download for free from Adobe. Let me know if you have any problems accessing this. Oh, and most importantly, let me know what font looks best...!

I'm so glad I didn't go to this school...

Ok, JCT sent me this link to "BJU"... Bob Jones University. I totally got a kick out of it as it summarizes their dress code:

http://www.bju.edu/prospective/expect/dress.html

It reads like something from The Onion.

Anyhow, I explored the rest of the website and found overall that the university is really fcuked up. Make sure to check out the profiles of all the freaky Admissions Counselors. It includes such campy Q&A's like the following:
How has BJU helped you the most?
BJU has helped me strengthen my Christian walk.

Excuse me? WTF is a "Christian walk?"
What is your oddest quirk?
I always, and I mean always, eat off a blue tray at the Dining Common. I haven't used a pink tray in years.

Remember... Pink Tray = "gay"; Blue Tray = "closet case".

If you have time to kill, check out some of the other freaky profiles: http://www.bju.edu/admissions/counselors/index.html

The YodaBeesh Ink Experience: Weird Omen today...

How's this for an omen...

I went out to lunch with KJL at restaurant in Fairfax today. I told him all about my kooky idea , The "Y.I.E", over our meal and the waiter overheard our discussion. He starts rambling on about his own tattoos (KJL and I didn't exactly understand where this was all going...) . The waiter motions over to another table and begins to explain that the guy sitting there owns his own tattoo shop nearby and is a regular at the restaurant!

I look over at the other table and see this big guy (his back was to me and he was with company) with tats all over his arms. The waiter was kind enough to go over to the table and ask them for the contact information of the shop for me. After we were finished eating, I went over to the table, introduced myself, and promised to come visit his shop soon. Check it out:

Patriots Tattoo, Piercing & Body Art

There's a cool gallery on there. I'll let you know what comes of my visit.

Anyhow, don't you think that's just such a weird coincidence? Its a SIGN! PTL! I think I am destined to get this tattoo.

The YodaBeesh Ink Experience: Cool Tattoo

I found this cool pic on Patriots Tattoo's website . Check it out... this is what I'm looking for:

Whaddya think...?

The YodaBeesh Ink Experience

So, I have this crazy idea. A very crazy idea. So crazy that you actually wouldn't be too surprised that it was coming from YodaBeesh, but this may take the cake.

I've been thinking a lot lately about getting a tattoo. Not just any tattoo. A special tattoo.

Per my previous posting, I want to get one of two phrases tattooed across the back of my shoulders in French:
  1. Mon esprit ne peut pas ĂȘtre cassĂ© (translation: My spirit cannot be broken.)
  2. Mon esprit est incassable. (translation: My spirit is unbreakable)

Some background on the selection:

  1. I can personally say that I have been through hell and high-water and have persevered. Its just my personality these days. I feel confident about myself that I can do this and make a very permanent statement.
  2. On the inside of my wedding ring is inscribed: UNBREAKABLE.
  3. I'm fluent in French.

Kinda like many of you out there, I've been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo. I figure its now or never.

What is The YodaBeesh Ink Experience?

So back to the crazy idea... I'd like to see how much of an interactive experience I can create with my audience. I'm calling it "The YodaBeesh Ink Experience." Basically, I plan to

  • Solicit you for input into the process
  • Journal my tattooing activities via the YodaBeesh blog
  • Video tape the tattooing process and post the video clips
  • Post pictures of the final tattoo product

Now, if you'd like to actively partake in The YodaBeesh Ink Experience, I welcome you send any kind of contribution to my PayPal account: artfuldodger73@gmail.com. Any contributions go directly to tattooing and production costs. Think of it as a small non-tax-deductable investment! Plus I'll show you the tattoo whenever you want.

And so the adventure begins... (and back to blogging!)
